National Revenue Agency deadlines that fall on a non-working day
When the last day of a deadline is a non-working day, the deadline expires on the next working day (Art. 22(7) of the Tax and Social Insurance Procedure Code). For example, 14 June 2026 is a Sunday — the VAT return for May is due by Monday, 15 June. 25 April 2026 is a Saturday — March social security is due by 27 April.
Why working days matter for accounting
The monthly working-hours norm determines pay for an incomplete month, sick leave and holiday pay; it also underlies aggregated working-time schemes on shift rosters in restaurants and on construction sites. Working days also govern statutory deadlines: the 7-day VAT registration deadline runs in calendar days, but if the last day is a non-working day it expires on the next working one.
